Don's Tip - Time Management HelpFrom a practical standpoint, one of the hardest aspects of caregiving is time management. There often simply isn’t enough time in the day to accomplish all of the caregiving tasks you need to get done and take care of yourself. This is especially true regarding mealtime for your care recipient. Many care recipients nap frequently throughout the day and want something to eat whenever they wake up, regardless of the time of day or night. This is especially true of people with middle stage Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. We must now adapt to their eating habits, since they are incapable of understanding set mealtimes as in the past. By making a large batch of nutritious finger foods, a few examples which are shown below, you can maximize your use of cooking time. You will find adapting to their new eating schedule much less stressful when you have some finger foods ready to just heat up and you can do your other cooking on your own time schedule. Besides the finger food examples below you can also keep cut up fruits and vegetables handy for them to eat at any time. Beef & Spinach Crescents1
